What usually causes it
- A loose plug or a wire that touches metal
- A failing camshaft position sensor
- An oil leak that soaked the sensor
- A stretched timing chain or belt
The camshaft position sensor tells the computer where the parts that open the valves are in their turn. Its signal on bank 1 drops out now and then.
Wiggle the plug on the sensor with the engine off to make sure it is clipped on tight.
